The Week 1 Update at a glance

Cold Symmetry calls this the first major patch. It changes progression as well as tuning: Glimpses and Tarcores are no longer finite, Mether's Severance can refund the Glimpses spent on a Shell, and a new Fragile Tarstone class breaks after losing durability.

The update also adds daytime Beacons in Fainweald and Mammon, revises dungeon rewards, scales riposte damage with enemy health, and applies broad fixes to weapons, Shells, bosses, saves, performance, crashes, controls, and the map.

The exploration notes also tell players, "You still haven't found the second Trollweed." This is an official hint, not a disclosed location. A community post claiming a discovery is not enough to publish directions until the pickup can be reproduced in the current build.

Balance Patch 1 history

  • Shell map locations now cost Gloom, with prior Glimpse spending refunded.
  • Enemy gold drops and weapon-smelting affordability were increased.
  • Several boss and enemy health or damage values were reduced.
  • Great Martyr’s Blade and Troubadour’s Lute damage increased.

Hotfix 2.0 preceded it with stability work plus fixes for a Slayer Seal beacon-menu lock and a riposte weapon bug.

These highlights are summarized from the official Balance Patch 1 notes.

Balance Patch 1 by system

AreaNotable changes
EconomyHigher enemy gold, cheaper weapon smelting, and revised Shell map costs with prior Glimpse spending refunded
Bosses and enemiesHealth or damage reductions for selected encounters and timing adjustments for Monolith
WeaponsGreat Martyr's Blade and Troubadour's Lute damage increases; Axatana light-attack tracking improved
TarstonesBuffs to Parasitic, Grudge, Bulwark, Clerik's, and Squall stones
StabilityCrash, bug, and performance work across multiple systems

The official note said the patch was live on PC first and coming to PS5 and Xbox Series shortly. Platform rollout statements are historical after deployment; confirm the installed version in your own game rather than assuming every platform updated at the same minute.

Hotfix 2.0 history

Hotfix 2.0 focused on stability and blockers. The published notes include a fix for a Slayer Seal lock when using the Beacon menu and a problem involving riposte weapons. Players diagnosing an issue should compare whether it occurred before or after this hotfix, not only whether a forum post calls it “launch build.”

How to verify your patch

  1. Close the game and allow the platform client to finish downloads.
  2. Record the version shown by the executable, title screen, or platform information panel.
  3. Disable incompatible mods.
  4. Reproduce the issue on an unmodified save copy.
  5. Compare the exact symptom with the official notes.

The difficulty page explains why launch impressions may not match current tuning. The Tarstone guide covers Fragile stones and the revised resource loop.

Future updates

Balance Patch 1 said future updates would extend Night Mode, Tarstones, PP items, and more. The Week 1 Update has now delivered part of that direction through Fragile Tarstones and related progression changes, but it does not provide a complete roadmap. This tracker was last checked on August 30, 2026.

Progression and economy

The Week 1 Update makes Glimpses and Tarcores renewable, adds Mether's Severance for refunding Glimpses spent on a Shell, introduces Fragile Tarstones, increases returns from tempered stones, and expands merchant restocking as progression advances.

These changes invalidate launch advice that treats every Glimpse or Tarcore as permanently finite. They do not make upgrades costless: players still need the relevant item, merchant state, currency, and route.

Fragile Tarstones

Glimpse Stone yields Glimpses as durability is consumed. Egon's Stone can return the player to a dungeon entrance and prevent Gloom loss on the death that breaks it. Justicar's Stone and Gloombound Stone are also changed to fragile under the official notes.

The Tarstone guide explains how to test durability and compatibility without freezing mutable damage values.

Shell changes

The update adds respec through Mether's Severance and fixes named Shell ability, animation, state, and riposte interactions. Proxima's Bio-Sampler received fixes for a stowed primary weapon, stuck hook, stretched arm, and Silent Sester riposte alignment.

Use the exact Shell and symptom when checking an old report. A broad “Shell fixes” label is not evidence that every ability issue was resolved.

Weapon and sidearm changes

Heavy weapons receive a poise and damage pass; Obsidian Hammer and Great Martyr's Blade gain damage; Axatana's ability changes; and Salvaged Trebuchaxe Tiltshot is redesigned. The update also fixes projectile target selection and weak-point registration.

Build rankings recorded before Week 1 should be retested. Geography and acquisition routes can remain correct while damage, tracking, or ability behavior changes.

Bosses and enemies

The official notes apply a broad boss polish pass and name fixes across Monolith, Zmey, The Lost Child, Droeg, Sir Isaac, Hexapod, Orrem, The Warden, Urrig, and other encounters. Monolith changes include timing, hitbox, animation, attack-spam, and double-damage corrections.

The page does not translate that list into a universal difficulty reduction. Some enemies and equipment are strengthened, and each fight must be evaluated on the current build.

Exploration and map

Daytime Beacons are added in Fainweald and Mammon. Early dungeon rewards are revised, a teleporter is added after one Grisha pit fight, map objectives are corrected, and two cosmetics are placed after certain questlines.

An official hint mentions a second Trollweed without publishing its location. Do not turn the hint into a route until the pickup is reproducible and sourced.

Saves and stability

The update changes interrupted save writing so a crash or shutdown should not leave the player without a valid save. It also lists crash, hitch, frame-drop, lighting, controller, animation, and performance work.

This is not a substitute for backups. Cloud conflicts, wrong restores, mods, and quest choices remain outside that specific interrupted-write fix. Use the save guide before risky changes.

Balance Patch 1 in context

Balance Patch 1 increased enemy gold, reduced some upgrade friction, refunded prior Glimpse spending affected by revised Shell map costs, changed selected boss and enemy values, improved Axatana light tracking, strengthened weapons, and adjusted several Tarstones.

Its PC-first rollout statement is historical. The installed platform build, not the original announcement sequence, decides whether a fix is present today.

Hotfix 2.0 in context

Hotfix 2.0 addressed stability and blockers including a Slayer Seal Beacon-menu lock and a riposte weapon problem. A report recorded before that hotfix should preserve its date; a current reproduction should include the new build.

Diagnose an issue by patch

  1. Record platform and installed build.
  2. Note the exact Shell, weapon, Tarstone, boss, quest, or map state.
  3. Disable mods and verify official files on PC.
  4. Reproduce once from a protected clean state.
  5. Search the official notes for the exact symptom.
  6. Report what remains different without pasting private save or account data.

A source saying “fixed” supports the named issue, not every superficially similar problem. Separate a visual defect, progression blocker, wrong reward, and save failure.

Platform timing

Official posts can announce a PC build before console rollout. Confirm the version on the device rather than applying a PC note immediately to PS5 or Xbox. Store certification and staged availability can create a temporary difference without changing the content of the announced patch.

Update policy

This tracker adds an update only from an official Cold Symmetry, Playstack, Steam, or platform source. Each entry needs title, publication date, platform availability, major player-facing changes, source link, and verification date. Community discoveries can explain an effect but cannot replace the official release record.

The tracker was rechecked on September 3, 2026. The Week 1 Update remains the latest official baseline covered here; a future post should be added above it without deleting the historical Balance Patch 1 and Hotfix 2.0 context.
